The shoulder joint is the most mobile joint in human body. It is due to unique construction of the shoulder joint, consisting of capsule, ligaments, muscles and bones.

Shoulder joint pathology – symptoms
The most common symptom is pain. Following our experience, it is common to the people of midlife and older age (5-40%), suffering from rotator cuff pathology. The pain can have nagging character, which sharpens up during movement or at night.
Weakness: it happens to the patients suffering from rotators cuff pathology or neurological pathology, while making movements of the shoulder joint.
Instability: may be traumatic (originated after wrench of the shoulder joint) or atraumatic (congenital due to ligament or bone pathology). Patients fear to experience the wrench of the shoulder joint while making particular movements.
Limitation of movements: most often due to rotator cuff pathology, while limiting movements of the shoulder joint because of pain, some „stiff “of the shoulder occurs. Moreover, there is also another pathology causing the „stiff“of the shoulder joint.
Rotator cuff pathology
Rotator cuff consists of the group of 4 muscles, including supraspinatus, infraspinatus, subscapularis, and the teres minor. Tendon of the supraspinatus muscle tears most often. It can tear due to the trauma or in case of degenerative changes of the tendon (for elderly people). Pain and weakness of the shoulder joint occurs. After diagnosing the tear, it is purposeful to perform arthroscopy as soon as possible, as, due to delay, the muscle can lose its features. Tear fixation is performed using modern arthroscopic implants; depending on the type of the tear, one-line or two-line fixation may be carried out.
Instability of the shoulder joint
It may be traumatic (occurred after wrench of the shoulder joint) or atraumatic (congenital due to pathology of ligament or bone) instability. Most often, in 96% cases, there is anterior instability. The case of anterior instability may happen due to the torn ligaments and articular lip with or without bony fragment. During arthroscopy, torn structure is fixed to the bone.
